I have always felt reluctant about huge happy ecstatic crowds. Be it standing on a beer bench at oktoberfest, dancing to some brainless EDM feelgood techno or cheering to a star on stage – all of this makes me feel uncomfortable. If I'm not fully into the music (like at a show of a band I like) I can't let myself go and feel bewildered by all those people who do.
This feeling of getting lost in a crowd and being one with everything makes people susceptible and exploitable. I'm German, I must know. It plays a huge role in Religion and its conveying too. While I have nothing against church services per se and experiencing positive feelings there, I am distrusting every event that tells you to let go of your brain. I'm too much of a thinker for that.
