Let's not forget that also the murder of John Lennon is a story of religious fanaticism. John Lennon ultimately had to die for saying that The Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Although Mark David Chapman was clearly mentally ill at that time, his beliefs that led to that atrocious deed, that there is a superior entity that you are not allowed to insult, are still common and even considered as something good.
