Okay, it is the last day of FAWM and you have about four songs left that you want to finish. What do you do?
Exactly: you make a 14 track full production with 6 different guitars, virtual instruments and a well balanced mix. Right now is the time for perfectionism.
However, I could not stop since this song has been carried around in my head for a while now. Every detail was in my mind as you hear it. And to record and write lyrics for it was one thing I absolutely wanted to get done for this year.
The guitar solo may be nicked from 'Wind of Change', I didn't dare check since I hate that song passionately. However, it is deeply engraved in our German minds. If it's the case I'd be fine with it.
LYRICS:
Sorry, but ... political.
Various politicians of our conservative and neoliberal parties have really said we shouldn't "overdo it" with all that climate protection, to not overwhelm the citizens. Yeah, they said that, though they should be aware that we are straight on the path to FOUR DEGREES GLOBAL WARMING RENDERING EARTH MOSTLY UNINHABITABLE, so our least concern should be "overdoing it". But these old folks don't get that. They have internalized that mantra of economic growth and prosperity for a lifetime, the changes that we as humankind have to make are too big for them to even grasp. They are too afraid, unimaginative and saturated to change anything.
They have to go, like right now. They shouldn't have any say. Thing is they do, and that devastates me.

Lyrics
[V1]
[REFR]
Leg dich wieder hin
(Komm, Alter)
[REFR]
Leg dich wieder hin
[SOLO]
[REFR]
Leg dich wieder hin
Und schau die Landschaft an
Hat ja keinen Sinn
Du hast genug getan
Nichts bleibt wie es ist
So ist es wohl im Leben
Du kannst jetzt dein Amt
An andere übergeben
Und ein Beispiel sein wie‘s geht
– oder auch nicht …

TRANSLATION
____________________________________________________
[V1]
You don’t understand the world any more in these crazy times
The flack you take tells you that’s mutual
Everything you say they take the wrong way
And what was true yesterday suddenly is wrong today
[CHORUS]
Lie back down
Turn off the TV
It’s pointless
You’re not needed any more
Nothing stays the same
In a fraction of a second
The world changes
And what you knew is gone
And who do these brats think they are?
[V2]
You have been in politics since the days of Franz Josef Strauß
You let your flag fly for god and tradition
All these hours overtime, and this is what you get?
Instead of respect only derision and mockery
(Come on, old boy)
[CHORUS]
Lie back down
Get off the internet
It’s pointless
You’re not needed any more
Nothing stays the same
In a fraction of a second
The world changes
And what you knew is gone
And they tear down what you built up
[BRIDGE]
Who would have thought that there is no end to history?
Who would have thought the market doesn’t have the answer?
Who would have thought there was something more important than growth?
Who would have thought that not everybody loves you?
[CHORUS]
Lie back down
Look at the landscape
It’s pointless
You have done enough
Nothing stays the same
Maybe that’s just life
You can turn over your position
To others
And set an example of how it’s done – or not …
